BUELL

ROAD

This original 1960s ranch, located in Oakland Township, underwent a series of unfortunate additions in the 80s before coming under new ownership. The new homeowners challenged the architect to reinvent this outdated 4000 square foot home, into one that was more fitting of its stunning 17 acre site. Specifically, they wanted to drastically improve the front elevation, overall design aesthetic and open the existing floor plan. They described their vision as “blue jeans with a sports coat.” The project, completed in the fall of 2013, included 1500 additional square feet and a complete interior and exterior renovation. The project features a new 1.5 story, upper level addition, a large open concept kitchen and living space, a formal dining area, large master suite with a study, mudroom and expansive, 80’ long front porch overlooking the adjacent orchard. Upon entering through the large, mahogany speakeasy door, the exquisite, geometric marble inlay tile leads you throughout the home. The interior design utilizes rustic materials and relaxed, yet refined furnishings. The home was ultimately transformed into a 5600 square foot, sophisticated, yet comfortable living space for the family to enjoy and entertain.
